THE COTTAGE MINISTRY
The Concord Cottage
The first Cottage constructed on the grounds of Oaks Manor Conference and
Retreat Center was named The Concord Cottage in appreciation
of the Concord Baptist Association of Fort Smith, Arkansas. The
association of churches contributed funds to help construct this
efficiency facility which accommodates one or two people.
The cottage is air conditioned/heated for year round use. It
has a kitchenette, bath, a king sized bed (can be separated
into two single beds), a table and chairs, comfortable sitting
area, dishes, linens, and an outdoor grill.
The front porch swing
offers a view of the lovely grounds. The Concord Cottage is
isolated yet convenient to all areas of the conference center.
A guest cart is provided for leisure rides around the grounds
on one of the trails, or to check out the pond.
You may want
to ride or walk to the prayer stations that are located on
the grounds where you can spend time with our Heavenly Father
or just sit and enjoy the beauty.
Jesus Rested
"Then Jesus said, 'Let's go to a place where we can be alone
and get some rest.'" (Mark 6:31b). If Jesus felt the
need to get away how much more do we because of the press
and stress that many are experiencing today?
A few hours, a day, an overnight, or several days spent in the cottage
at Oaks Manor Conference and Retreat Center may be just the thing you
need. Check us out!
We visualize other cottages that will be built to accommodate
the increasing number of people who wish to utilize this beautiful
place. Plans for cottages include efficiency style duplexes,
triplexes, and quadriplexes Cottages may be built in honor
of, or in memory of a loved one, friend, or church group. Information
about floor plans, building agreements, and cost estimates
are available to any church, group, or individual on request.
GUEST LODGE
Our guest lodge, completed in the fall of 2007, has 6 guest rooms. Each
guest room has a private bath. One of the guest rooms is handicapped
accessible. The rooms can be equipped with 2 single beds or 1
king sized bed depending on the event. All linens are furnished. Each
guest lodge room has an outside entrance onto the wrap around
porch. Rocking
chairs on the porch invite guests to sit and visit or just enjoy
the peace and beauty of OMCRC.
THE OUTDOOR PAVILLION
Our outdoor pavilion seats up to 65 people, and has restrooms
and a small food service room. The beautiful setting overlooking
the pond and wind mill makes this the perfect place for parties,
weddings, Bible studies, prayer conferences, and other day and/or
evening activities.
PRAYER STATIONS
1. A
gazebo under a large oak tree with azalea bushes and dogwood
trees. This is a beautiful spot for a wedding.
2. Along
the walking path is a swing hanging from a big oak tree surrounded
by dogwood trees.
This station has a beautiful view of the conference
center property, as well as the hills beyond.
3. A beautiful old wooden swing located
in the orchard facing the wildflower garden.
4. Seats are available in a lovely prayer garden.
There is a walking path around the perimeter of
the 37 acres. Prayer stations with swings and benches have been
established along the path.
MASTER PLAN
In addition to the facilities we already have,
the master plan includes more lodges that will have 20-30 bedrooms
with private baths and will include central dining rooms, kitchens,
and meeting rooms. There will be additional private cottages
that will be available to conference guests as well as additional
prayer stations, recreation facilities, a bonfire circle and
an amphitheater. Landscaping and lighting will be a beautiful
part of the grounds. |
